When you look at some of today’s top surround sound systems, one thing that you may very well notice is that these sort of systems can really be hard to use when you have limited space. Many of today’s systems have a significant footprint. That might not be an issue with some people considering the fact that the space they have for a surround system can at times be quite considerable. However, for those who have confined spaces, it has been a common thought that unless they are very crafty and ingenious about the use of space, a conventional surround sound system will be either impractical or just downright impossible to fit into the tight space available. That, however, was before the Yamaha surround sound YHT-S400BL home theater system.

This Yamaha surround sound system incorporates the sound bar system. This particular system takes the old three-speaker configuration of a typical surround sound system and replaces it with one long and slim speaker. This speaker produces the same sound from a sound and zone perspective as the traditional three-speaker configuration. Not only does this offer front surround sound, it also takes up much less space than the three-speaker configuration. In fact, this speaker is such a size that it can neatly fit underneath most flat screen TV’s for a very uniform and seamless look as well as sound.

Another feature for the space challenged that makes this particular yamaha surround sound system so appealing is the subwoofer aspect. Most sound bar systems utilize a subwoofer to round out the sound of the system. However, even a small subwoofer can take up a good amount of space in a small area. That is why the YHT-S400BL system has a subwoofer/receiver unit combined into one grouping. That means that instead of having separate units for a receiver and subwoofer, they are combined. You can place your subwoofer/receiver unit on your TV stand or component rack without having to take any space on the floor to accommodate the separate unit of the surround system.

If you are looking for a system that will offer you quality home theater surround sound but that does not take up too much space that was so hard to find in the past, then the Yamaha surround sound YHT-S400BL home theater system should be appealing. It offers a quality home theater sound in an extremely compact and space conscience package.

There was a time, not so long ago, that if you wanted a compact surround sound system you would have to pay thousands of dollars to achieve that goal. In addition, the term compact was relative; while it was certainly smaller than the 1980s version of a surround sound system with its huge speakers and sub woofer that wouldn't fit into a one room apartment these days, they were still large enough to require a certain amount of space. In addition, with a five speaker set up, you were needing to drill holes in your ceiling to house the speakers as well as make room on the floor for the sub woofer. Now, however, small really means small when you consider the YHT-S400BL Yamaha surround sound system.

The YHT-S400BL Yamaha system is unlike any other bar system on the market, that is because is the most compact option available, making it possible for you to use this system, even in extremely small spaces. You no longer have to forgo the surround sound experience if you have a small space; with the yamaha surround sound system, you can make it work in the most confined spaces. What's more, this system will work just as well in large rooms too, so don't imagine that this is only for confined spaces, it's for any size space.

One of the most unique features of the YHT-S400BL Yamaha surround sound is that the sub woofer is combined with the bar surround sound speaker. What does this mean for you? Well, in terms of space, it means you won't have to find a place to put the sub woofer, you don't have to worry about hiding it, and you don't have to worry about additional wires. In terms of sound, you sacrifice nothing; this system will still provide you with the complete surround sound experience that you would expect from a more expensive and larger surround sound system.

The YHT-S400BL also has UniVolume; nothing is more annoying than changing channels on your TV or radio station to end up having the new channel blare loudly at you while you scrounge for the remote to turn things down. In addition, this Yamaha surround sound is HDMI ready is is perfect for your high definition TV. Lastly, you will feel like there are speakers all over your room with this system. You won't sacrifice sound or quality and you won't spend a fortune on this Yamaha surround sound system.

When my husband recently brought home the Yamaha surround sound, I was expecting a lot more speakers. Every other surround sound system that we have had had speakers for next to the television and more for the walls behind the couch so that you really felt like you were part of the show. I was not expecting the same kind of quality from this one when he brought it home-- it only had one speaker!! Where was I going to put that to make it sound like being in the movies?

The Yamaha surround sound system was sleek looking in it's black finish, but there were only three components. The remote, the receiver and the sound board. I liked that it was small in size and would easily be able to slide under the small space that I had under the television without moving anything.

Once I turned the Yamaha surround sound system on, I was blown away. There are so many channels for different things that it made me feel like I was sitting in the stadium with my husband while we watched the big Dolphins game. The stations available for music are fantastic. It's concert sound all the time. The feature that I like best is that when you are watching television, you never have to deal with the commercials jumping up and down because the sound is always consistent with whatever it is that you are watching. I don't have to worry about my stories waking up the baby while he naps any longer.

The price that we paid for the Yamaha surround sound was decent for what we got. Although I still think that we could use more speakers to truly make it a home theater, five hundred dollars was about what we were looking to pay for any home theater. We made a steal with this one. It works better than I imagined for something so small. We considered purchasing a Sony but when we went to the store to check it out, there really wasn't anything good about the set up. Overall, I am very pleased with the Yamaha surround sound and wouldn't purchase anything else had I the chance to do it again.
